The Other Church at Lancaster Theological Seminary

About Us

The Other Church strives to be a creative and diverse community of faith that explores all things spiritual. While rooted in the Christian faith, we hold our faith with open hands in order to see and experience the vastness of God. We are committed to four values :

worship  /  reflection  /  community  /  service

We are a safe space for all who seek to explore questions about God, life, faith, and purpose. While diversity brings challenges, we believe that in this diversity we are given a larger glimpse of our Infinite God because each one of us is a reflection of our creator. We, as a community, are committed to doing the work diversity and depth require.

We are:

  • Holistic
  • Intentionally Broad in both Belief and Practice
  • Conversational
  • Explorers of the questions of faith and meaning.
  • Actively Engaged in the greater Lancaster community

Yes, we talk about God. Yes, we talk about Jesus. Yes, we regularly use scripture. And yes, many of us identify ourselves as Christian. We also recognize and seek to understand the value of other faith traditions.

The church is the people. While Jennifer feels called to serve as pastor, she sees her role as a fellow sojourner. Having many voices, perspectives, and gifts is what makes the church rich in thought and understanding. In addition to a pastor we have a Board of Directors, a Community & Service Team and a Worship Team who work with Jennifer to translate our values into practical experiences. If you have an interest in any of these areas, please reach out to Jennifer. We would love to incorporate your passions and gifts into our community!
